I have had several people ask me what my process is to making my floral designs, today I thought I would give you some of my step.
My thinking process is almost as fun as my creating process, So here we go!
I remember sitting in art class in elementary school learning about the color wheel. I never thought I would ever use it, BUT I use it just about every time I design. The color wheel helps me to visualize the colors that look best together. There are a few styles to go by.
After I have the style and colors I want, I choose florals that fit with my vision. I try to choose florals with different textures, shapes and height.
Then, with all that in mind, I create a design on my laptop to give me an even closer idea for my vision (this step is only for weddings or style shoots). It's rough, but it gives me a better idea and helps me visualize. I am a very visual person/learner!
I love using more than one kind of greenery as well, it adds more texture.
Then if I do everything right, my vision becomes a reality!
This is just a peak into my process and hopefully it shows how much care and thought I put into each arrangement, no matter how small!
Once again, here are my favorites from the past couple weeks!
No. 1 Mia Flats! If you haven't heard of Stitch Fix, hear about here! IT IS AMAZING! I am not a die hard shopper so for me it is so nice to have a box of clothes already my size and style delivered to my door! You get your own stylist who gets to know your style by the style profile you fill out with all your sizes and ideal outfits. Attached you Pinterest board and you are ready to go! The great thing is that you can stop at any time and skip a month whenever you decide to. Click HERE to get your first box!
No. 2 Baliste Dry Shampoo! I am a dry shampoo kinda gal! I have tried so many different kinds and this one is my favorite by far! It really gives great texture to my thin hair and doesn't make it greasy the next day (which a lot of them do!) You can buy it HERE.
No. 3 Mercury glass is becoming very popular for wedding décor. I love using it for vases and votives! I have seen many options on Amazon and Ebay.
No. 4 San Pellegrino is a great way to make summer spritzers. Here is a link to my favorite spritzer recipe!
No. 5 Greenery! I am waiting for the day when a bride says, "I want all greenery please". Don't get me wrong I love flowers more than anything, but there is something about mixing all kinds of greens that makes me swoon!
LET ME KNOW SOME OF THE THINGS YOU ARE LOVING RIGHT NOW!
This weekend, I took on the biggest floral project of my career thus far. Not only was it physically big, but emotionally and sentimentally "big". I did the casket spray for my dear sweet grandma. It was my first time making one and the first time making an arrangement for a personal loss.
Making this arrangement was very emotional for me, but in the end I am beyond glad I was able to do this for her celebration of life!
I am so blessed for the time I had with her, she taught me so much and loved me even more. She was in her garden constantly (even though, she told me about a week ago, she hated gardening!) She knew all about flowers and gave me some wonderful advice and tips. I will miss her fiercely, but I will remember her always.
In the Spray I used:
Silver and Spiral Eucalyptus, Snap Dragons, Irises, Stock, Bells of Ireland, Amaranths, Roses, Carnations, Tree Fern as inside filler and orchids for the topper.
Thanks for letting me share! Enjoy the day!
Every mother should receive flowers on Mother's Day! Just as every wife should on Valentine's Day (The Sodus Blossom can help you with all your needs ;) ) Like that little plug.
Anyways, When I think of my mom, I think of sweet, fun to be around, and beautiful so of course I want my floral arrangement to reflect her in that way!
Here's what I used:
Along with this arrangement, I wanted to get her a few other things that really made me think of her!
My mom and I are huge fans of Primitives by Kathy Tea Towels. They are first of all cute, but they also absorb well and have a slight wear to them which we love! I got these from Amazon. Click HERE to purchase some for ANY occasion.
Also my cute little model is Lauren of Lauren Elisabeth Events. Check her out she is AMAZING!!
